Introduction
This website discusses the impact that the brilliant and inspiring revolutionary leader Toussaint L’ Ouverture had upon the Haitian Revolution by asking the essential question what role did Toussaint L' Ouverture have in the Haitian Revolution? It also gives a brief history of life on the island of Saint-Domingue (Haiti) and the slave trade. This website is based upon the North Carolina Essential Standard WH.H.6.2 Analyze political revolutuions in terms of their causes and impact on independence, governing bodies, and church-state relations. Part of our student teacher project, is to prove that as pre-service teachers, we can do adequate research in a content area we are not familiar with. Hence, the choice of topic- the Haitian Revolution. It is hoped that this website will thoroughly explain a topic that is still controversial today- two hundred and twenty years later.
